Highlander Athletic Awards

At the conclusion of each year, the athletic department recognizes both the team successes and individual accomplishments of our Highlanders.  It is a celebration of committment, attitude, service and excellence in sport. The criteria for the awards that are given out have been determined by the Athletic Council which consists of coaches, administration, PAC representatives and our Athletic Directors.  The nominations are made by our coaches. The final recipients are decided upon by all of our coaches in a Council meeting, and overseen by the Athletic Directors.

Pin/Medallion/Block Awards
This category of awards is presented to student-athletes for participation in a number of sports over the course of their school careers.  To receive an athletic point an athlete must be a member of a school team and fulfill all team commitments over the course of the season.  The awarding of an athletic point to a student athlete is at the discretion of the coach.  An athlete may attain a maximum of one point per season of play.

Athletic Service Awards
This category of awards is reserved for coaches to nominate students that they feel have made invaluable contributions to our athletic program.  This could be in the area of officiating, managing, or coaching to name a few examples.  The recipients of these awards do not have to be athletes they are individuals without whom our athletic program would be lacking.

Unsung Athletic Heroes
This category of awards is presented to grade 12 athletes that are outstanding team members that often go unheralded. Past winners have all been leaders in our athletic programs that do not get recognized for major awards.
